My Feedback on a Video #2

Robert McKee (screenwriter): Bad Writers have nothing to say.

McKee believes that the biggest mistake that screenwriters make is that they would want to adapt to whatever is fashionable and up to date in style. They would want to look at all the other screenplays that made success to make one similar. McKee believes that most screenwriters care more about selling the screenplays than they do about creating. He sees competition among each screenwriter because all that the screenwriters want to do is that they want to be able to get into a good company to get lots of money. Everyone wants to be successful and that is why they just imitate.

My opinion: I agree with McKee. That is because everyone wants to be the same and no one wants to be unique nowadays. That is why lots of things are all similar and boring. When you want to be a good writer, you have to make it unique because when you make your writing unique, it sends a beautiful and valuable message. Society wants everyone to fit in and if you don't, you are a horrible person. That is wrong! Be yourself. Write what's in your heart, not what you see that others do and the way that others try to be. When you are a great writer, you don't need to add false words that are not your own. When you write things that are from within you (experience) and what's in your hearts, that is what I call beauty. If you want to be successful, it doesn't matter the opinions or the way that others do it. Just be you.

McKee says he can tell if a screenwriter is a good one if they have a degree of craft. You can find if a writer has a degree of craft by seeing how they handle exposition. That being said, if the writer catches the attention of the reader, but not yet telling them the exposition, but draws it with curiosity and the reader is catching the exposition, but still is not yet told, that is mastering craft. The way that the writer describes things can tell you the type of imagination that they have. You can tell if a writer has confidence, control and precision and that is very important for a good writer. McKee can tell by the beginning of a writing piece whether the writer has mastered craft to a certain degree. Others have great mastery in craft, but don't have a story to tell. Having a great imagination is very important to be a good writer.

My opinion: I like what McKee said about imagination. This is very important for a good writer. A good writer has heard and have experiences that they enjoy and love. When you make those things that you like into a story in a creative way, that is a very great technique. Imagery also involves with imagination. When you use imagery and give a great description in your writing pieces, it attracts the reader. Remember: Catch the readers attention (without yet telling them the exposition), draw them with curiosity about what would happen next, but make sure to include imagination (imagery is a very good source for this) and make sure to tell a good story behind this piece.
